Within the comprehensive framework of student support services, a multifaceted approach ensures the holistic development and well-being of the student body. This includes the crucial Orientation of New Students, facilitating a smooth transition into the academic environment. Ongoing support is provided through Student Assistance Team Coordination and Individual Guidance, addressing specific student needs. Efficient academic progression is maintained via the meticulous Scheduling of Students and strategic Curriculum Planning and Revision. Mental and emotional well-being are fostered through Group Counseling, Peer Mediation, and robust Crisis Management Services, with further support available through Psychological Referrals and Referral to other services as needed. Academic and future planning are supported by Standardized Testing and Career and Vocational Counseling. Collaboration with stakeholders is prioritized through Parent-Teacher Conferences and the role of Placement Community Resource Liaison. Specialized attention is given to Exceptional Education students, and administrative efficiency is maintained with the Registration/Withdrawal of Students process.

SAFE Program Goals

The goal of the SAFE Program is to assist in making school campuses safe and drug free, so all students have the opportunity to be successful in school. The SAFE Coordinator meets with students, their families, school faculty and staff, and also community service agencies. Our program focuses on the social and emotional needs of the entire student body.

S.A.F.E. also offers students a confidential and safe place to discuss issues and assist with finding solutions: homeless youth, violence, grief and loss, divorce and family problems, depression and suicide, lack of self-esteem, cultural conflicts, relationship problems, child abuse, and more.

S.A.F.E. services use a team approach by partnering with the student's families, the TSMS team and resources in the community to help support all of the student's needs.

SAFE Program interventions are:

  • Preventative - provide educational information to teachers, students and families, facilitate drug and alcohol prevention activities and presentations, work with at-risk students, etc.

  • Supportive - Facilitate support groups, work with students and families so that the student is able to remain in school, refer students to other agencies as necessary.

  • Responsive - assist with peer mediation, suspected drug/alcohol use, abuse/neglect issues, crisis response, etc.
